Asbestos & Mold Testing in Calgary

Know what's in your building before you renovate or demolish.

Asbestos can't be identified by looking at it. The only way to know whether a material contains asbestos is to have it sampled and analyzed by an accredited lab. We coordinate that testing for you through an independent Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), so you get reliable results and a clear plan before work begins.

Independent Testing You Can Trust

We don't test our own jobs. All sampling and air testing is performed by our partner, a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) specializing in asbestos and mold assessment.

Our Testing Partner's Qualifications

  • Master's degree in industrial hygiene
  • Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH)
  • Canadian Registered Safety Professional (CRSP)

Independent testing means:

  • No conflict of interest. The hygienist assessing your building isn't the one being paid to remove anything.
  • Results that stand up. Reports are suitable for permits, insurers, landlords, and buyers.
  • One point of contact. We schedule the testing, explain the results, and quote any abatement needed, all in one place.

Our Testing Services

Bulk Asbestos Sampling

Our hygienist collects small samples from suspect materials like drywall joint compound, textured ceilings, flooring, plaster, insulation, and pipe wrap. The samples go to an accredited laboratory for analysis. You receive a report identifying which materials contain asbestos and in what amount.

Asbestos Air Testing

Air samples measure airborne fibre levels. Air testing is used:

  • Before work starts, to establish a baseline
  • During abatement, to confirm containment is working
  • After abatement, as clearance testing to confirm the area is safe to reoccupy

Mold Air Testing

If you suspect mold from water damage, a musty smell, or visible growth, air sampling compares indoor spore levels to outdoor conditions. This shows whether there's a problem and how significant it is.

When You Need Testing

  • Renovating or demolishing a home or building built before 1990
  • Vermiculite insulation in the attic or walls
  • After water damage, flooding, or a fire
  • Before tenants move in or after abatement work is completed
  • Required by your contractor, insurer, or permit

In Alberta, asbestos-containing materials must be identified before demolition or renovation work that could disturb them. Testing first protects your family, your workers, and your project timeline.
